Step App

Conducted design sprint to enhance Step App usability, refining layout and engagement for educational content discovery and retention improvement.

Duration

A 3 week design sprint for the StepApp from the Hindu team. The aim was to run a design sprint to redesign the Android app of the step app. I led the design efforts and worked closely with the Product Manager and the content team; This design system still powers the step app.

Week 1

We started the first week understanding the business and identified areas that can needs to be addressed as a part of the revamp. I conducted a series of workshop that led to the creation of a flow which was validated with the various stakeholders in the Hindu.

Week 2

In the second week, we iterated on the flows and the UI designer started working on the interface. We solved for some specific UX Systems for Games, Polls, etc.,

Week 3

At the end of the consulting assignment we gave them a simple UI System that continous to power their app.

Step application design

Today

After 5 years, the design system still powers the app and the team has been able to scale the app to include new features and new content types. The app has been downloaded by more than 1 million users and has been rated 4.5 on the play store.
