The research study project involved study of sectors such as education, governance, health, finance in remote communities to inform the design useful mobile services and platforms considering the partnerships necessary to make the deployment and development of such services.
Background
For the Telecom industry, opportunity lies in understanding the growing emerging markets; the similarities and differences between the various markets. This knowledge would help create better products/services which could be quickly and easily replicated successfully in the different markets reducing the efforts of duplication.
My role
My responsibilities spanned initial client interactions, conducting field research in India and Ghana, analyzing the gathered data, leading the service and platform design, and handling both the concept design and photography for the final report.
Location: Vidayal Karuppur, Tamil Nadu, India Day in a life with a postman who cycles 24 km every single work day; What is his role in the community other than his work?

Location: Agona-Abodom, Central Region, Ghana Protocol with a Cocoa farmer, a 63 year old young man who just uses his mobile for calling daugher in Nigeria

Location: Shama, Western Region, Ghana Understanding the lives of fishermen and the role mobile plays in their lives
post field analysis and synthesis
The team spent analysing the data collected in the field for over 2 months. The data was analysed using various techniques such as affinity mapping, personas, journey maps, etc. The analysis was then used to create a set of design principles which would guide the design of the services and platforms.

Designing the services and concepts
We generated a lot concepts for services based on the design principles. The concepts were then shared with the stakeholders and then refined based on the feedback.

Final report
This was shared with the stakeholders and yet to get feedback : )
